Radio station I happened to hear it from. It was part of a longer spiel about a lot of 'sins' of the white man, and although I get where it comes from, the generalization just about made me bite through my lip.

I couldn't really explain the 'appeal' to you--other than from a personal level, which is my dad's side of the family traditionally goes and looks for wild game sometimes--fishing, hunting, etc. By the same token, we're taught all the common sense and respectful rules. Some of it, I think, is we want to keep the skills alive, beause everyone gets the chacne to learn to fish and the guys the chance to hunt if they want. I think it's also an independence thing. But trophy hunting and bragging rights? Not so much.
