silverthorne: (Auron's Work is Never Done)

If you know me, you know I'm good at putting things off until the very last minute and then trying to get it all done in two hours, like whoa. Sometimes I'm successful, sometimes not, but it's an annoying little trait I have that I'm not always successful at overcoming.

Then there's the related trait of 'I can mess around as much as I want, because it's just for fun and maybe I just don't wanna do it'. Which honestly doesn't sound quite so bad as the first, until you realize that the second half of that particulatr thought process is usually followed by 'but you can't do anything else until you finish this one first'.

Which tends to shoot me in the foot, since that means not only do I not finish the first thing, I don't do anything else, either. Which means I and up doing a whole lot of nothing.

Well, I'm at that point with my main on WoW.

She's been at level 50 for a month and half now. I started backtracking to do low level quests just to clear areas and get a little extra rep, and also because most of what's on her 'to do' list is dungeons (one red level, one yellow, a couple of greens and a few greys), and we all know how I feel about PuGs. :P Add to that the part of my brain that says 'no more until you finish these', the fact that I'd like to get her to 60 before I go play with the 'baby' Ari on the other server, and I'm pretty much spending my WoW time wandering around the wilds doing not much of anything ATM, since the wilds I do know about are mostly 'low level' for me now.

I need a kickstart. And possibly an idea of where to go to munch mobs to get all my current dungeons to grey so I can get them off the list...or, something.

What makes it worse is that I have a few other alts I'd like to play as well, but again, the little general in my head goes 'uh uh, finish this one first'. :/

Any suggestions?

Honestly? Drop the dungeon quests and move on to another area. Even if they are grey you probably won't be able to solo them. I ended up dropping lots of dungeons throughout leveling. I've only just this past month done a couple of Outland instances and I was level 80 and helping a guildie get some gear. When I was actually questing in Outland I skipped right over them. You will have plenty of downtime when you hit 80 on your main to go do all of this stuff later.

I can't access any WoW sites at work so I can't recommend an area off the top of my head. Where are you questing now?

Right now, my 'at level' quests are Azshura (actually just on the edge of 'too high' for me, including that stupid hunter one where you 'port to the old guy, he says absolutely nothing, you port back down, and oh, hai! Elite Giant (That has smacked me flat three times so far, damnit). Gagetzan has a whole bunch of at level quests because I'd been putting them off in an effort to try and clear Durotar/UC/Thunder Bluff area of most of their stuff first, and I do have a few Un'goro quests that are at yellow right now, although I seem to do okay in the crater if I watch my critter dots and don't aggro stuff off my pet.

I really hate dropping stuff off the quests list, but I might just let them stay there for right now and do my best not to grab every quest in a new area like I usually do until I clear some.

I hate dropping stuff too, but sometimes you just gotta say, "You know what? I'm done here." Even if you're not. But whenever you start a new area, definitely grab every quest you can. Often they all send you to the same area and sometimes they even have you kill the same things for two different quests. No need to make extra work for yourself by going back and forth. I'd say my first year of playing I would have quests from all over clogging up my list. Now I just get bored and move to another area. I know where to find the quest if I decide to come back, but I've never gone back. :P
