One of the really nice things was finding that in Massachusetts, a year after they made gay marriage legal, opposition had dwindled massively. Not completely, and of course as the numbers of opponents got smaller, I think they got more intense, but my impression is that a lot of politicians who had opposed it turned around or at least backed off. In a lot of ways it seemed like people realized "Gee. Huh. The world didn't end. Gosh. So, let's go talk about public schools and the environment and welfare and stuff."

I mean, I haven't followed the situation very deeply, but it has seemed hopeful here.
