According to the state of New Jersey, where I was born, I don't have one. In conversation, it's the second half of my first name--Marie.

One. That's over a floodplain that looks like a grassy depression for most of the year. :)

Dad's Side--(Scottish) Campbell of Argyll. Originally 'Caimbeul' in gaelic. Meaning 'Wry mouth' or 'Crooked Mouth'. I'd like to think they mean the fact that the corners of most of my families' mouths turn upwards. ;)
Mom's Side--(Irish) Magees and Murphys. Boston Irish. I don't know nearly as much about them, other than they were very proud to be Irish.

I find it funny as hell that her parents were Irish Catholic, but they didn't give her a Catholic name (and yet the family made sure I had a catholic name). :)

I know my dad wanted to name me something different once I was born, but no one will tell me what. Mom apparently went without him to get the birth certificate done, and it was one of those 'Go to work, duaghter is nameless; come home and daughter has unexpected name.'
Both grandmothers told me that story on seperate occasions. I'm not really sure why they didn't want me to know the original name, though (or why they told me). And even if I still talked to my mom, I wouldn't want to ask. If she felt she had to be sneaky in the first place, she'd probably flip if she knew someone had told me.
