The hat would have never made me think of Brokeback Mountain had you not mentioned it because 1) Richie's not gay and 2) there are no sheep in Bon Jovi.

That's what I heard, yeah. Don't remember where though.

And yeah, Richie's hat(s) is/are more of a fedora style anyway. :/ Why anyone would equate that with a Stetson, I have no idea...

*shakes head* it's a shame, really, because honestly, they made it all the way through the 'big hair' 80's with all those colorful clothes (that earned a lot more snide 'gay' remarks from folks than that hat ever did. I mean, 'cmon...Jon with his lavendar leather pants? And hairspray and mousse products from hell? Yeah.) without having identity problems. :/
