silverthorne: Painting of a cougar sneaking through underbrush (Bride's Statue)

Another Strange Day...

You know it's going to be odd when one of the defining moments happens to be getting accosted by a balloon when you open the door to a dirty equipment room.

Good thing I'm not prone to shrieking, yelping, or anything else...lol

It was funny, though.

Day is good so far--got my final B-day presents--'The Essential Journey' and 'The Essential Billy Joel' from my dad. Awesome. Maybe geeky, old fashioned, etc...but still awesome...

Was it one of those balloons with arms and legs which hovers about 3 feet off the floor? When they first came out, my sister (an RN who works nightshift)nearly had a heart attack when one of those came out of the dark when she went to check on a patient. *snicker at sister's woes*

I like Billy Joel, which is so uncool, I'm told, but I caught my college sons downloading his stuff. Hee!

Happy Birthday, Anne

Actaully, it was a standard, round, pink "it's a girl" ballon, but the string had been weighted down so that it was at ground level and moved about the same way those 'walking' balloons do, so it had about the same creep-out effect...

I should be glad though...I've had run-ins with balloons that were at that stage where there's just enough helium in them to make them bob up and down in the air--not enough to stay aloft, but enough to let them rise up every so often. And of course, they're always behind me and decending when I become aware of them...*snicker*

Tell your sister not to feel bad--the first one I ever saw was in a Hallmark store during halloween----and of course, I tangled in it coming around the corner of one of the card racks. That was a trip, both literally and figuratively. Made the worst tangle too...lol. I was creeped out by those things for such a long time. Not scared...just...creeped out.

Isn't it funny how some of the most uncool songs and artists somehow get listened to anyway? I know Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow and a few others were uncool when I was younger, but that didn't keep me from listening to them...I just made sure that the 'wrong' people didn't find out...:D

Thanks again for B-day wishes! ^^
