So...it was actually pretty quiet last night. Footmonster, for the most part, was pretty quiet (or else I slept through most of her complaints, which is possible--I'm perfectly capable of sleeping through random kitty complaints). She stayed on the floor next to the bed for most of the night. About four or so though, she started calling again, so I started groggily answering her. After about ten minutes, there was bed-Foot and then much happy purring, head petting, and then splaying out of human and cat for the last hour of sleep.

The 'alarm' (I actually have mine set up so the radio goes off and not the loud, buzzy thing), made her jump a little, but she didn't vacate the bed until I got up. We had a few minutes of hiding under the bed when I first started moving around, but that only lasted until the first permitted head rub and the establishment that I wasn't going to scoop her up without permission again.

She followed me at a two foot range while I got ready for work, ate the canned cat food fairly quickly (but did not barf it back up), and then proceeded to tell me I hadn't given her enough (I had--I'm not dumb. :) ). When that did not net the desired result, she settled for more water and watching me finish up getting ready for work, which included resentful looks as I put together my own food for work, and could only present her with a wheat bite. Oops. No wheat for kitty. Blech!

She does know what a litter box is--there were several little clumps to scoop this morning. So, that's good. I was a little worried that she wasn't box-trained, or at least not trained well enough not to make a mess in a new place. Also; no blood or parasites in it, so she's pretty darn healthy. If her humans left her, it wasn't too long ago.

I left a check and a note at the leasing office over-night box, explaining to them that I have a cat in the apartment and why and that I intend to find her humans, but also know there are lease responsibilities. I have to drop by in the afternoon anyway with paycheck stubs so that we can get the leasing info set up for the next year of residency, so I'll talk to them about whatever else I need to do to stay 'legal'. This way, if I don't find her humans, I can keep her rather than take her to the humane society or whatever. And if I do find her humans...well...I guess it's time for a cat anyway. So at least I'll already have everything set up. Win/win.

Anyhow, that's the state of the Foot.
