Loose battery cable. Go figure.

I'll still be paranoid for about a month, but yeah. Car works fine now. Actually, it seems to be working better, smoother...and my speakers seem to be louder. I don't get it, but not complaining. Just glad to get my car back, and on the same day.

And for free, which was even better.

Well, finally got Ford back out this morning to tow the car from the employee parking lot. Bad news is that I don't know how long it'll take for them to find and fix the problem. The good news is that the first time the tow truck driver tried to start the car, it did the same thing to him that it did to me when I tried to start it Tuesday afternoon, and after he looked under the hood, messed with the battery cable for a minute, and tried again, the car did start, so whatever's wrong is apparently very fixable. They just have to find the actual problem rather than the symptoms. Here's hoping it's easy and cheap...in that good way. ;)

Work is boring today. Basically, my job is to sit here and wait for stuff to trickle in from UPS and FedEx. It's doubtful that the supply trucks will show (I'm hoping they don't, really), so once I take care of the usual suspects, I can get out of dodge and have a semi-extended weekend. And...wait for Ford to call me back.

So that's life in a nutshell. Now I just have to figure out how to get some milk and creamer in the house this weekend, if the car doesn't get fixed. Think I'll skip the milk and just walk to Wally World for powdered creamer once I get off work.

Also, I am experiencing life suck. My car is once again acting up, with the same problem as before.

I think it's time to shoot the damn thing. As it goes, I'm back to begging for rides, and god knows how I'll get it repaired this time. It better be free, though (although I'm not expecting them to follow through), since they fucked it up.

I've already had my five second cry, and my ten minute rage. I might cry again. right now, though, I'm back to imagining 'Life Without A Car'.

Worst part? already paid for the insurance for the next six months, starting in January.

Goddamnit.

Or, in my case; Still No Car.

Everyone wants to look at it first before they can tell me what they think is wrong with it. Which means, since this weeks paycheck is pretty much dedicated to rent, I'll have to wait for Dad's check to come in later this week to get it towed.

Since I suspect it's actually electrical this time (long story about how the inside light turned on overnight, car almost started when I left it on, but when I turned if off, everything quit again, etc.), I'm going to just save the mess of having to tow it twice and take it straight to the Ford dealership. I love my mechanics, but I don't think they'll be able to fix it if it does turn out to be the electrical system.

Other than that, I'm doing good. Did a bit of character hopping this weekend, and will probably do more today. Got my lockboxes opened...and tipped well. :) And I got another black tabby, which I promptly auctioned, and then spent most of the money on upgrades. :P. Tried to buy a mount in advance for J's character on CC, found out the hard way you can't mail it or sell it, either. :/ (PS, Jess, please go get the siamese out of your mailbox if you haven't already, and let me know you got it out. Poor thing will probably need a ton of catnip by now. :) ).

Anyhow, my question is this; if I manage to snag a third black tabby, does anyone in the guild want it? I was going to send the second one I got to Geekie, but I didn't know if she already had one (and I wasn't sure Jess had been on to get her last kitty, which is why I didn't think to send it to her). Now is the time to let me know; I will happily camp until I get how ever many kitties my guildies want plus one or two more for AH. :)

My car is officially dead.

Co-worker is having her mechanic come to look at it, but unless he merely wiggles his fingers and the car starts, I'm SOL (All my paycheck is going to rent this time around).

Pray for the power of mechanic finger wiggles, because the engineer ones didn't work this time. :/

*starts checking out walking shoes*

So....

The brake switch is acting up again. My car is up at work; boss will be driving me to and from tomorrow (Hopfeully, though, my favorite Engineer will be in and he can convince my car to once again 'do the right thing'...at least for a little while).

I need a new car, I think.

Too bad I can't afford one.

I'm at the point of just hoping that once I get it going again this time, that it behaves itself while Dad is out in December, because I'd really hate for us to get stranded somewhere when the switch has another hissy fit. :/ I can always walk to work; and about the only problem I'd have with groceries is getting things like milk home before it goes bad/defrosts, although I'm sure there's a way to work around that, too.

I'll just have to think positive, because ATM, that's about all the option I have available to me.

Okay...

So, the cosmic price of Ula's health is apparently my car battery.

I'll take it.

I am now completely inspected and street legal for another year. Yays! :)

It's always nice when your ten year old car is still going strong.

There's nothing wrong with my car.

No, really. Nothing wrong. Everything checks out.

Nothing.

Wrong.

At all.

...when did my car become a Dramah Whore?
silverthorne: (Coyote Steals Fire (grey phase))
To 'Coyote'.

The guys at the shop drove me back to work to retrieve her rather than me having to call a tow company, which was, quite frankly, my other option since I can't pop the clutch and push the car at the same time. (I'm good, but I'm not that good). So one of them gets in and turns the ignition.

And she starts right up.

:/

Anyhow, she's at the shop now while they check out all her wires and stuff.

But yeah, new name for my car. O.o

(also: MUCH LOVE for my mechanics)

The alternator on my car died.

Damnit.

In other news:

There's something just plain fucked up about an anti-drug teacher getting arrested for possessing pot.

ARGH!

Dear Car Gods:

I don't know what I did to piss you off, but I doubt it was worth the price of my brake switch...again.

I am frowny face at you, now. Pleaz to be stopping with the car problems nao? Thank You.

Sincerely,
Anne.

So, yeah, the switch went out again. Left the car at work for my engineer friend to look at tomorrow (and the battery needs jumping at this point anyway, and would by morning again, so might as well leave it where it is and see if he can get the new one installed for me before I try moving my car again.). And my boss will drive me to work. Bleh.

:)

So, the saga of the car finally comes to a close, for now (Cue maniacal laughter!)

Rambling 'WTF, why should we even care, Anne?' under here. )
silverthorne: (Oi!)
I have this car, see...? )

They'd be having a mechanic's heart-attack right about now.

So, finally got the oil changed, and the tranmission and radiator fluids checked out. (Mind you, this is after literally years of neglect thanks to household budgeting).

The radiator? In great shape (something I messed with myself at the beginning of the year, so go me).

The oil? Um...it had surpassed sludge and went straight for mud.

Transmission fluid? The stuff that goes in my car should be the color of Jun's tunic, right? (IE: Hot pink).

It looked like I'd been dumping my highly creamered coffee in there on a regular basis.

Yes, folks, it was light-freaking-brown.

We won't talk about the carbon flush...although I can say the old air filter was looking like hell.

My poor, poor car. And this is all standard car care I couldn't do before. Poor baby. :/ Very well made and fucking forgiving. Most cars would have done worse than blow their ECG valve if treated like this.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again; Never Again am I letting someone have that much control of my life, my things, and my money. Next person who tries can go fuck themselves with a knife.

*Goes and hugs her poor car*

Er...yeah.

So. Head cold is mostly gone. Had a very slight cough this morning, and some left side drippys, but my Weekend Of Sitting, Drooling, and Fueling seems to have done the trick.

And yes, I grilled the steak. It was delicious, and I didn't mess it up. Nice and tender (I soaked it in worstershire sauce and seasoned meat tenderizer for an hour first). The only downside was that I cooked it too long (the grill I'm used to using took twice as long), so no rare steak this time around. That's all right though, because medium rare is a decent substitute.

Thanks to constant snacking, inluding a couple of late-night deli-meat raids, I didn't lose any weight. The good news is that I didn't gain any, either.

Bought a large keyboard for when I use the laptop at the desk, and a bouncy thing* for when swimming/walking is not an option. Like, you know, when it rains or snows or something.

And found out what that extra money is going to go for this morning. Because when I got to work, I noticed a slight list in the car.

Yep...tire going flat on the right rear.

Good news? Engineering will pump me up when it's time to go home. Bad news? Still need to get me to a tire shop and fixeth the tire.

I'm hoping it's something simple, like a nail. I know someplace that can fix that easy, and for $15. Replacement tire would be a bummer.
