Anyway, this is how it's going:
I: get car inspected for the year, car passes.
Car: Promptly shows a 'Service Engine Soon' light on the dash.
I: Grumble, but glad it happened after inspection, take it in to figure out the deal.
Car: Has decided a certain valve in the intake system is ded, gone, botched, needs to be buried.
I: Get it changed.
Car: Is fine. For a week. Then, the light comes mysteriously back on.
I: O.o...get car looked at again. Get oil and other fluids changed.
Car: Is fine. For five days. Then, not only does the battery die, but the damn light is back.
I: O.o! ...get it looked at again. There is cleaning of parts, replacing of parts, poking and prodding. I even get the damn thing a full-service bath to help it feel better.
Car: Is fine. For five days. You can guess what happens then.
Me: *there is MUCH head-desking, juggling of funds, and general plans to take it to The Manufacturer once said funds arrive, because obviously my chosen mechanics are not good enough for the car.*
Car: Keeps the light burning for two weeks while I get this all set up.
I: Take car for gas and a cheap wash afterward at the station this morning.
Car: Light promptly goes off...and hasn't come back on yet.
WTF?
