That it costs more to insure my cat (or rather, the vet costs), than it does to insure the stuff in my apartment.

By the same token, I agree with the sentiment that life, especially my cat's life, is more important than stuff. :)

Anyhow, insurance for Foot this week, renter's insurance (finally), next payday.

And then everything I have is insured, including me. Yay!

You remind me of my responsibilities. I hang my head in shame and look for a pet insurance company that will insure brand new pets.

Aw. *hugs*

I checked out petinsurance.com--which is what my vet recommended and accepts. They have more than just 'cat' and 'dog' as choices when getting a quote. You might want to check them out. :)

(Also--the paired kittens from your post about the cavvies and this icon are also cute. Your kitties or someone elses?)

They are random google image search kitties. I was in a Mood one day.

That was an awesome mood, then, because the icons are great. :)

I'm pretty egocentric--the pet pics (all four of them) are of my 'kids'--three of Foot, and the one of a pair of feeder mice I handraised into adulthood a few years back. Sweet little babies, too. Lived two years, which is pretty decent for a mouse (especially ones that weren't actually fed by a momma mouse for the second half of their 'need milk' phase).

Crapsticks. Neither of them are eligible because of age and how long I've had them. *sigh* Looks like it's another $75 for Libby's initial exam.

Too young and/or haven't had them long enough?

damn.

I'd say try and find out when they'd qualify and apply then, even if you can't get the benefits from it right now. At least in the future, you'll have the back-up (I did this after all of Foot's inital care as well, so the first $500.00 for shots/spay/abortion/etc. came out of my own pocket, too, so I feel for ya.)
