Date: 2004-07-20 05:43 am (UTC)I haven't done one for here yet, but the one I did for Book of Thornes kind of hurt...lol...good thing I have a relatively thick hide, eh?
Good to see you, BTW. And yeah, I'm working on that post I promised for you...just wanted to get this done first..

Date: 2004-07-20 11:18 am (UTC)I did need to set up a separate Friends group for HL to keep the posts sorted out. I'm not a participant in Hogwarts Live (and so cannot post there), and was surprised to find myself friended by the participants.

Date: 2004-07-20 02:03 pm (UTC)As for being friended, I can relate in the opposite direction...lol...I'll admit I was surprised to see you on the friends list at BoT...my first thought was 'oh my god! Did I gorget someone????' I felt bad because I was afriad I had....^^; Then my next thought was--hey she's pretty cool...
And I'm obnoxious anyway about that--I'll friend anything that doesn't try to kill me...^^;
I'll keep you on BoT too, so no worries there...

Date: 2004-07-20 02:18 pm (UTC)I've never done online role playing, just AD&D for years (years ago, too) with friends. It's fun seeing how things build using LJ and Instant Messenger to RP.

OOOOHHHHHHH, a fellow table topper! Way cool....I'm *just* old enough to remember the 1978 version of the game when it came out...and I actually have a near-mint copy of one of the orange binded Monster Manuals....:D I still have tons of my table top stuff, actaully, although I didn;t really get into buying it until the early 90's--a lot of my books are 1st edition white wolf things, as well as Palladium, Chaosim, and so forth....before that, I tended to borrow my friends stuff....

Date: 2004-07-20 02:54 pm (UTC)I was in my 30's and the youngest in our crowd was mid 20's when we began. We played for 7 or 8 years on Fridays, because Saturday was Dr. Who and we had our priorities *smirk*. Magic: The Gathering, divorces, and family demands killed the group, but, damn! we had fun while it lasted.
Now my kids are RPGers too, and #1 son helped DM at DragonCon a few years ago for Imagine (sort of a descendant of D&D) with the developers.

Date: 2004-07-20 03:09 pm (UTC)Heh....
Okay, lets see...*counts* Does...10 6 sided die, 20 mini six sided die, 3 30 sided die (for characters who are too high level any more to use a standard 20 sided for damage) , 2 100 sided die, 8 pairs of ten sided die, and 5 each of 4, 20, 12, and 8 sided die count?
Saturday was Dr. Who and we had our priorities *smirk*.
Lol! yep, gotta have those. Our group was sort of the opposite that way--most of them were in college except myself and my best friend, so we would end up in all nighters that lasted from Friday evening until someday Sunday...that was eventuaklly replaced by Live Action when White Wolf started their official LARPS, and then I eventually drifted away from the scene...then moved to Texas, where LARP ended up being all I did...(Discoverd that one must work to pay bills...^^;)
But yeah, RPG is a heck of a time to have fun....:D
Very cool about your son...:D When I was younger (oh, listen to me...lol), I wanted to do that sort of thing, but didnt have the resources or contacts...ah well...:D
All nice and marbled too...I liked the marbled ones...

Date: 2004-07-20 03:45 pm (UTC)That son isn't interested in game development, just playing. Our group's dream was to rent a house boat (we dreamed big) and spend the whole weekend with drinks and food gaming our little hearts out. Since we were all grown and married, we seldom were able to play past 2:00 am.
I have friends who are LARPers, and I love hearing their war stories.
