Good stuff with a dash of creepy...

So, for the first time since 199-something, I did something I positively love.
I went and swam in the apartment pool.
I love it. I still know how to, you know, actually do things like freestyle, backstroke, and breast stroke. I still suck at the butterfly, though. Always did. *g*
Anyhow, so I got my exercise, my water and my sun in a nice 40 minute package and all was well with the world.
At some point, this kid shows up. Male, probably 16-17 years old. And yes, not white. I say this because when he got into the pool area, he sat down at a chair and eyeballed me for several minutes like maybe he was worried I'd freak out on him if he got into the pool or got anywhere near me, and after all the stuff I've read about people getting weird about just that kind of shit, I figured it was possible that's what he was expecting out of me. Instead, when I finally caught his eye, I told him to come on in--I could exercise over on one side of the pool, no big deal.
So we swam for a bit, shared space, took turns when our 'practice laps' were getting in the way with each other. It was cool, I didn't mind, and hey, we were getting along. At some point he asked me my age, which I told him.
Eventually, I realized I was starting to get that nice pink undertone that means it'll turn red right fast if I don't get inside. So I got out, excused myself, and headed for the apartment. Up to this point, all was still well with the world.
...Until I realized he had followed me.
Er, whut?
So there we are, in front of my door, sort of eyeballing each other, him smiling, me mentally going 'WTF?' and...yeah. Now what? My friendly ends with letting someone, anyone following me home and looking at me and then my front door like they're expecting me to let them in even though I don't know them.
Gobsmacked, I sort of cocked my head and frowned, and that's when he stepped forward with his arms out.
Now, wait a minute, there, kid! Even if I did know you, you're way too young for me to be hugging you! O.o The word, I believe, is 'inappropriate', due to age differences and, you know, lack of knowing each other.
Anyhow, I stepped back, put up my hands, and went "Whoa, man wait. I'm not that type of person, okay?"
And he kept smiling, but stepped back as well, and said 'Yes you are. I just wanted a hug."
And then took off.
So now I'm creeped out, wondering if I over-reacted (ANY strange person/any aged fe/male doing that would have had me freaked out), or if I need to worry. And if I need to worry, what do I need to worry about?
O.o
Yeah. Um....
