Mini Health Diary (Food)
Sep. 23rd, 2007 09:18 amSo, got the stew on and set for an eight hour slow cook.
For anyone interested, what went into it:
1 and 1/3 pound of extra trim stew beef.
2 large baking potatoes
4 large carrots
1 large onion
2 large tomatoes
1 cob of corn (let me tell you, getting corn off a cob with a knife is an adventure)
1/4 pound of fresh green beans (Getting these ready took me back to childhood and Grandma's neighbor's garden :) )
1/4 pound of mushrooms (forgot to record these)
4 beef boullion cubes (Salt!)
Celery salt (To taste--and more salt!)
Seasoned meat tenderizer (To taste, and holy shit I really need to cut down on my salt intake! XD )
Black pepper (also seasoned to taste)
I almost threw the turnips in, but I think I'll have those steamed for lunch with the broccoli and cauliflower. I'm also wondering if I should toss some bay leaves or something in with the stew. Anyone got suggestions?
