I'm really into M. Pena's mythic statues. Had a few, wanted several more of them. I recently found a few sites that carry her stuff, including a couple that still have in stock some of the older stuff that you really cant find anywhere these days. I was thrilled. So, I was bad. And my bad arrived today. *g*

But this will also be the last purchase of this size I'll be getting for a while. There are a few more I want to get, but they're more recent, she's putting out new color styles for them, and I'll have plenty of time to snag them before they become part of the 'good luck finding this one' camp.

It also should be noted that I'm into dragons, big time. Not the ones that sit in their caves all day gaurding their treaure and then go eat villages at night--but the brave, intelligent, smart ones that are guardians of mankind, the heavens, and/or the gods, depending on your mythology. Pena makes dragons that could easily be put into the latter when you look at them. They're dragons, but you can, thanks to her craftsmanship, see that they are of the intelligent type with more than just an animal soul. I loves them, I do.

And, on the superstitious side, they make good guardians. *g*

Anyhow, some people share pics of kids, family, friends. I'm gonna share my dragons. Because, statues though they may be, I love 'em, they're mine (as much as a dragon can be, natch), and damn, but this woman's works are incredible and deserve to be seen.

The first few are the ones I've had, and had for years.

Okay, the first set, not her work. But I consider them part of the 'family', as it were. And...they like my old music. Right? Right. *g*

The Parliment

The rest of them are her works.

This is Junior...who always ends up on a shelf with my music, movies, and games...such a proud little guy. Rawr! He was the first little guy in the collection.

Here's my fav pair. The baby Ki-rin I've had since before I left Tucson, but I never managed to get his parents, so he's orphaned (woe). The dragon was actually a gift from the ex about two years into our relationship. I love these two together, and always set them up the same way no matter where I put them. It seems right. Note that right now they're guarding my Bon Jovi ticket info for April. With them on the prowl, I know the stuff will stay safe. *g*

And this is Lady. My cousin Marko got this one for me the last time I went to Tucson for Christmas. Getting her home on the plane was interesting. I didn't want to trust her to the baggage handlers, so I took her on as carry-on instead. You should have seen the look on the tech's face while she tried to figure out what she was staring at (it looked like a weird, mutated, four legged duck on screen). Hee. She's also been on her own since I've had her. Rather like me.

And now we get to the 'new brood'

This guy is...I dunno what to call him yet. But he's Lady's now. Maybe, again, if you put stock in such thing, having the pair in-house will help me out, yanno? At any rate, their 'parking spots' will be with each other now.

This is 'Scratch', which is what the artist named him...and I suspect it will stick. I've known about this statue model for years, but couldn't get him in the original color I wanted due to...well, yeah. They don't make the sand/brown version anymore, but the gold works. Look at that grin! I'll find a better spot for him, but at the moment, the island window between living room and kitchen is where he sits.

And here's the Old Man. Who promptly 'told' me upon being unpacked that he wanted a window seat, not shelf space, and that I'd better grant his wishes. So...he got the spot next to the porch doors. Smug old bastard.

I swear, he looks like a smug little cat there.

Here's a pic where you can actually see the colors on him.

And those are my dragons. :)
