That was fun...not.

Some kid pulled the fire alarm in our section of the apartments.
Had I been faster and not concentrating on 1) trying to turn my detector off (I thought maybe it was malfunctioning) and 2) getting my shorts on first, I would have been able to grab Foot and get her into the carry case before she bolted for under the bed (note for next time; grab cat THEN worry about clothes, etc). Fortunately though, there wasn't an actual fire, but it did take the FD about ten minutes to show.
Even better, we had to wait for the Dallas FD, because the Carrollton FD down the street is apparently not for us. :/ (Second note: don't expect a three minute response, because technically the FD closest to ours does not exist. Also: find out the Dallas FD number so that I don't have to bug the Carrollton switchboard and consequently get freaking annoyed.).
And yeah, my ears feel like I went to another Bon Jovi concert...except this was nowhere near as fun. But I helped the FD guys get hold of management and maintenace when they couldn't get the damn thing to shut up without completely disabling it. So that was good.
Anyhow, off to coax Foot out from under the bed.
