As far as I know, there's no such thing as false legs for horses. They lose a leg, they have to be put down. The end.

The rest is just fucked seven ways from Sunday and then some.

They make horse prosthetics for the front legs. There's no way to do one for a rear leg I think. They are NOT cheap and the animal requires extensive therapy in order to learn to use it properly.

But yeah, fucked up, no two ways about it.

It makes sense the hind legs would be difficult if not impossible to mimic...at least not until true bionics can be made.

I read about it someplace recently, so I'm sure it's a pretty new technology. Someone had a prosthesis made for their mare but the horse had gone around on three legs for so long that she was having trouble adjusting. I was trying to remember where I saw it but it's gone now. I *think* it was in the local paper because I seem to remember that the horse had been starved and was rescued by the local humane society, and had an injured leg she lost in the process, and someone donated the money for the prosthesis.
