Tax check has arrived! WHoo!

And yes, the cats are already set up for vets visits. Next week. At the same time. Whee! :P

And there's an amazing amount of relief involved in knowing there'll be a cush in the bank again once the cats are taken care of.

Also: Something only people who have done the Steamweedle Cartel quests will understand.

#%%$^@!!!! Chicken!
@$Q#^#^@%!! Scorpids!!!!!

What's even sadder? Got killed, rezzed just as a pally was leading his own chicken through the scorpids, helped him, got invited to group..but we forgot to add me to the quest (I lost my chicken). So when we got into town, he got credit, but I did not.

Now I have to remember where I get that stupid beacon from (Ratchet, I think), so I can try it again. Alone. The pally was sweet though--he tried to give me the helm he got as a quest reward, and was disappointed when he figured out it was soulbound.

I hate escort quests. I wait until I'm a much higher level to come back and do them. Plus, it gives me a chance to loot and peel the scorpids. :)

I was doing fine up until that stupid scorpid nest (I was actually on my third death there when I lost the chicken), and, judging from the path after the nest, I would have been fine after, too, if I'd survived it. The problem was that I managed to aggro two of the bastards onto me from my cat/the chicken, and then everytime I had to rez, the bastards were still right on top of me, so it was 'rez, try to run/feign death/kill at least one of them, die, rinse, repeat'. If I'm a little more careful with the aggro and/or the feign death, I should be better off next time around. :P

And I'm also starting to see the sense in having a 'rilla pet--it would probably fare better with it's thunderstomp on something like this than my poor kitty.

I started a huntard on Skywall to play with a new friend and she made it all the way to 34 before I decided to move my rogue over to raid with the new guild. But I've been dying to revisit hunter so I can get my gorilla. Unfortunately, she's taken a backseat once again, this time to my druid. (We need more healers lol.) Someday I'll have a gorilla.... *sigh*

I was actually not that enamoured of getting one until last night. So chances are, I'll get one to drag out on quests like this, where getting mobbed by mobs is a very literal possibility, and then go back to the cat on most everything else. *g*

I'm thinking of snagging one of the white ones down in Stranglethorn.

You must know this first!

* Thunderstomp (Gorilla) has been removed as a pet skill and replaced by Pummel - Pummel the target, interrupting spellcasting and preventing any spell in that school from being cast for 4 sec. (20 Focus, 5 yd range, Instant, 10 sec cooldown)

* Thunderstomp is now a pet talent available to any Tenacity pet. Now your bears, crocs or ESPECIALLY CRABS can join in the AE tanking fun.

....Well, okay then. I can take my already caught bear instead. Awesome. Poor little Angry Joe hasn't seen any action lately, so this'll be the perfect excuse. :3

This change won't happen until patch 3.1 comes out, of course, but that's fast on the way. So it's not really worth it to go out and tame something new for a move all Tenacity pets are eventually gonna have. :P

It'll likely depend on how impatient I get with that specific re-quest, really (I think I'll do a LFG or 'looking for travel partner' next time I try it. Maybe offer some gold or a good chunk of the item take for their company and time--provided we can grab it all fast enough without losing sight of the chicken--since I just sold a black tabby on that sever for some pretty decent gold in the nuetral AH (you know it was an Ally that paid for that kitty. XD) ).

You know what I wish, though? Is that hunters could call their different critters out for exchange on the field (Warlocks can, right?). I'd be more likely to use more than one pet all the time that way, if I didn't have to go hiking back to civilization everytime I needed to change one out. :P

I'd like to think that there'll be some kind of porta-pet feature for hunters someday. And yeah, warlocks can do it, but it costs us one of our soul shards to call out a fresh one. (Except for the imp.) And that means I have to waste a whole bag carrying nothing but shards so I can summon demons, summon party members, cast certain spells, make soulstones and healthstones, etc etc. So I wouldn't wish another wasted bag slot on hunters, if that was what it would take. :V

Yeah, there is that. Although with as many arrows as I go through these days, which means I'm usually right back in town after an extended quest anyway to buy more arrows and sell what I've found, and that one of my bag slots is usually taken up by a skinner's bag anyway, for me at least, I probably wouldn't consider it a hardship (I'd just switch out the skinner's bag for a frostweave one). Although for other folks, it'd likely annoy them.

They really need to start stacking those shards for you guys, especially since new levels get added with each expansion. :P

The robot chicken quests are love. There are three of them in all - one in Tanaris, one in Feralas, and one in the Hinterlands, and their "This Item Begins A Quest" things are random zone drops.

If you still have the failed quest in your log, try dropping it and returning to where you found the broken chicken.

BTW - do all three quests, and if you return to the gnome in Booty Bay who ends all three, you get a robot chicken pet of your own. :)

Yeah, I already dropped the quest. I just don't remember where I got the homing beacon from. :/ (It's been awhile since I'd found it).

I'd love the quest more if the chicken didn't seem to have a suicidal need to clip the aggro range of every single critter on the sands. XD. I remember the pally remarking that it was like walking a dog, and I told him a dog would have a better sense of self preservation.

Cool. :)

You don't need to get the beacon again. Just go to the place where you picked the chicken up. :) He should have the exclamation mark above his little lifeless robotic corpse.

The Tanaris one is pretty annoying because even though you're well within the level range, you're probably in no shape to protect the chicken from 4 angry scorpions. I have failed that part of the quest every time on every alt and had to call for help -except- for on my Horde warlock, where I whipped out my void and had it AOE taunt/tank while I picked em off one at a time.

Luckily, the other two chicken quests are way easier if you clear ahead and quickly run to the chicken.

On a sidenote, I'll be on AIM all evening if you need me to talk you through it. :)
