Grandpa actually passed away about ten years ago (Lou Gehrig's disease), while I was still with the ex. On Valentines Day. Also the same day I fell through a pallet first thing at work and wound up at home with a tendon tear for a week, too. I think the pallet was trying to tell me something...
As for the uncle, Yeah, I did think about that. I think after years of me being pretty stand offish with him, he's learned to approach only when I allow him to, and I do not let myself be alone in the same room with him. So, he knows. He might not remember what he knows, but he knows not to push the personal space.
And the cousins (who are all grown now) have not said anything to me about him doing it to any of them (we've all been keeping an eye on him since, especially his son). He does still drink more than he should, but not like he used to. He's also been pretty sick lately, so he's being forced to take better care of himself. So if I do move to Pinetop, I know where my limits are and what not to get myself into on that front.
And yeah, as for the family thing, I'll admit, part of my push is for Dad's sake, too. He's in his mid 60s now, has diabetes, is over weight, and has a bad leg (which does not help with the trying to lose weight thing--he can't stay standing, let alone walking, for very long now). So I'm worried about him, especially since he's in Raleigh, away from the rest of the main family (There are cousins there, but...cousins...), and I don't really have a good way to get to him quickly if something goes wrong. It's getting to that point in life where I need to start thinking about that stuff.
