And since I said something to the 'other side' when they were being a pain, only fair I speak up now, too.

A few things first, to make sure you know what isn't effecting why I did this post:

1) Thank you for giving my character and another persons character a spotlight thread. It was cool, I enjoyed it, and that was nice of you, even though just directing us back to the main thread would have been all right too to keep things moving smooth and fast. It's not like either of us were looking to stand out--our pups were just doing what was tatcically sound, which was to send out a forward guard to check and clear the way for the others. I do appreciate that we got special attention. It's too bad that the others didn't get to join in (that would have been cool, actually), but I still had fun anyway. Cannot complain on that score at all.

2) I have no problems with the 'pairing' at all. I've seen far worse in RP, and since they aren't my characters, it's really none of my business to dictate to you how and what you play anyway. IC, my character is politely ignoring it, because it squicks him the fuck out, but he's not going to start a row about it, either. None of his business other than whether or not the relationship will cause Bad Things To Happen To Other People. If not, he has no reason to stick his nose in.

3) You're fun peoples IRL. Intelligent. Talented. Cool folks.

4) I don't mind at all that the whole thing was All About This Relationship And The Consequences Of It. Really, I don't. Everyone likes to do that every once in a while. It's cool to want and to have the spotlight for certain things. It's even cool to have character-centric plots going on, and for only a few characters to have a major bearing and role on any thread. I have no problem with that either. God knows I've done it for my own pup several times.

Okay? Okay.

Here's what's bugging me.

1) I'm cool with the 'this will take a few weeks, because, hey Real Life, Conflicting Scheduals, and Other Concerns' happen. That's cool. We all understood from the beginning this would go slowly and that there may not be a whole lot of posting going on each day, barring a miracle where we are all awake, feeling well, and have time on our hands. Being sick I also understand. It sucks to post when you aren't at your peak and you really want to do a good job.

What torqued me off was the sudden 'OKAY FOLKS NOW WE HAVE TO ALL BE HERE RIGHT NOW< NO EXCEPTIONS! WE MUST FINISH THIS IMMEDIATELY' post after a week or so of slow posting. You're not the only ones with a life, mang. What made it even more insulting was after all that? We didn't move much faster afterwards when we all got together anyway, and in fact, it's been another week of dragging since then.

Can you see where that's a little annoying? None of us did that to you through all of this. Thanks for returning the favor.

2) Yo, Hello Thar! GROUP post! That means....everyone in the group really ought to have something better to do than just follow Teh Heroes (or even just The Main Characters) Of This Thread and act as a peanut gallery.

Yeah, I got the idea that The Important Thing for this plot is what happened between your two characters and the Big Bad Nasty. I got it. I actually don't mind it. Like I said--sometimes you just gotta let your character have the spotlight, and anyone else joining in is really just window dressing and there for the sake of having witnesses and some sort of immediate reaction to what happens. No big deal.

The big deal came in when you three did The Big Plot Point...and left the rest of the characters to just sit there and watch per OOC instructions. Not deal with other problems, not make plans, not even react in little ways. You basically asked players who are playing seasoned battle veterans to have those professionals just sit there for thirty seconds to two minutes in-game while your characters get beat up, make speeches, listen to a short bad guy speech AND get killed in front of their friends with absolutely no interference or reaction.

Close, personal friends, no less. That are also pro-active individuals, fast, well-trained, and have a lot to bring to the table. Even if your characters were the perfect hostage deterrents against attacking the bad guy, even if it were only thirty seconds from start to finish, those other four people would have been doing something more than just sitting there going 'Durr, OMG!' during that entire scene. Thirty seconds (and it would have taken at least that long, even assuming eveything happened non-stop) is more than enough to draw a weapon and shoot, to start running towards the situation, even say 'oh fuck, look out', or any number of responses.

Seriously, if you had wanted the scene to realistically go off as you envisioned it, then you should have taken that into consideration and found a way to occupy the others. Even badly wounded, none of them are slackers. Something would have happened, even if it was only them suddenly finding their hands full with other targets (or just trying to mentally plan something).

The way this came off? The rest of us could have sat back and ate popcorn while reading the completed post after you three were finished.

I love you guys, really. But this? This was bullshit as far as RP goes.

Quick question: Was this supposed to be f'locked to the parties involved?

No, because quite frankly it should be a good guide for everyone who RPs and mods group threads anyway. Also cuts down on the 'what was actually said' in comparison to 'what was rumored to be said'. I learned a while back that if you're going to say something, it's better for people to see the source post rather than use the 'telephone' method, where things can get garbled and altered as each person passes it on.

And yeah, I understand this will cause a kerfluffle, and there will be pissed off people, but yanno...I'd rather say something than just sit on it and be all passive aggressive later where I'm still pissed, acting funny, and no one knows why.
