silverthorne: (Oh My Foot Says)
Ula will still ask for breakfast and not get freaked out until Foot does.

Foot will not freak out until you try and grab her to put her in a carrier. At that point, she will run under the bed and out of reach.

It's quieter in the living room than the bedroom when the alarm goes off.

The alarm in the bedroom is eardrum splitting, as is the one outside; it's possible the living room one doesn't actually have a speaker.

You can use food to bribe Ula out into the living room.

You cannot use food to bribe Foot into the living room, or even out from under the bed (although she will stick her head out far enough to grab nearby treats).

You must use a squirt bottle to herd Foot into the living room when she's freaked out. You then must take twenty minutes after the bad noise stops to regain her trust before she'll actually go eat breakfast (something neither cat is usually shy about begging for and gulping down once they get it.).

It takes Dallas FD eight minutes to show up when you call 911. Then again, I was both calm and groggy sounding.

It takes a full hour to shut the fucking alarm off.

Good morning, everyone!

****

ETA: In case anyone wonders; I had two reasons for chasing Foot out into the living room. The first being that if we really did have to evac, I had a much better chance of getting hold of her and her not getting somewhere I couldn't reach her. The second being that it really was much quieter in the living room, especially once I'd closed the bedroom door. I was trying to keep her eardrums from getting as hurt as they could have been.

And yes, I made sure the building wasn't actually burning down before I tried to cat-wrangle.

Foot keeps going to the porch door.

No, wait. She keeps creeping over to the porch door, pushing aside the slats, watching something outside for maybe three seconds, and then jumping back and dashing away from the window as fast and as low to the ground as she can.

From what I can tell, there is absolutely nothing outside that should be making her do that.

O.o

Nevermind. She was doing it again as I typed this, and this time I heard a thump at the glass, so I went over and turned the porchlight on.

It's a toad trying to get in for some reason.

ETA: Annnnd twenty minutes later and Mr Toad is still jumping at the glass. O.o (and yes, I went and researched toads...).

Hmphn. o.O

Not only does she wake me up at 5am...she comes and retrieves me for bed at 11pm.

In fact, she's sitting on the couch arm looking over my shoulder expectantly.

Good night, everyone! Foot says it's my bedtime. XD.

That the vets office said Foot was in the 'ideal' weight range for her size and breed when I took her in for her chip on Tuesday. So as long as I don't let her get any chubbier, she's good to go. :)

Gah. This will get all long and rambly if I go into detail, so I'll just keep it brief.

Your cat? Unless it's part of a purebreed line? Please fix it ASAP. There are too many kitties in the world right now as it is. We don't need more.

And, IMHO, even if you're a breeder, you don't really need to be making more purebreed kitties.

Not unless it's Jesus Kitty, Come to Save Us All from Teh Ebil.

(Disclaimer: I know not everyone will agree with this, and/or agree with it 100%, but after reading the 20th 'OMG, cat that's never been spayed got outside while in heat!' in the past day, I'm kinda all 'GRRAWRR! CRY!!!' about it, especially since getting Foot spayed and aborted was one hell of a tough decison for me. I would have *loved* to have a Foot-kitten. But then Ula would have been out her forever home, and quite probably so would have Foot's other three kittens had I let her have them.)

Yays!

Foot is now chipped. :)

Of course, she's on 'Home Again'...and Ula is on 'Avid Friend Chip'.

So...I guess if they stick together, I'll have a better chance of finding them both? XD

Finally got myself financially straightened out enough to take Foot in to get chipped (Ula came 'equipped' with one already). So, after Tuesday, Foot, between tags, collar and now chip, will be as ID-entifiable as I can possibly make her short of tattoing her personal information on her rump. :)

I will feel SO much better once I get this done.

So, I have a question for everyone. If you had a pet, and you got them chipped, would you still make them wear a collar and tags or not? I'd like to know reasoning too, if you don't mind.

Also, (like I need to say that with you guys, heh), keep it polite with each other if there's a disagreement. *HUGS*

Second night in a row with two kitties on the bed and minimal fighting (there were a few hissing exchanges, and one short-lived incident where Mom threw everyone off the bed after getting tagged in the thigh by a mis-aimed paw. Everyone was back on and napping after a half-hour). But overall, not bad. I had bed kitties! :)
silverthorne: Painting of a cougar sneaking through underbrush (Default)
Was sleeping on the bed with me, all night, without getting into a single fight with each other.

:)

Yesterday, we all had a nice hour long nap on the bed together. :)

This morning, everyone willingly showed up for breakfast in the kitchen, rather than one of us waiting for Mom to bring their bowl to the bedroom. :)

Almost sort of maybe friends. )

Well, I woke up this morning to find Foot by my side, and Ula between my calves. O.o

They were both sleeping, and purring in their sleep...well, they were until Mom moved, they woke up, and everyone realized that everyone was on the bed!.

Then there was hissing and a mad scramble while Foot headed for the living room and Ula made for under the bed.

But...that wasn't the last of it.

This afternoon, they shared the tree. :) Mind you, there were a couple of outbreaks of hiss and growl (but no swiping), but they both stayed there for a good half hour before Foot retired to the porch door to watch some birds.

Things are looking up.

So I come home. I greet and pet Foot for several minutes, then go and greet and pet Ula in the bedroom (both of them are chirruping when I get home. :) ).

Then I go lay on the dining room floor for a few minutes.

Foot sits behind the recliner on one side.

Ula ventures to the door frame and then over to me. There's staring going on, but it stays relatively peaceful for a few minutes before there's an exchange of low, short growls. Ula retires to the bed; Foot relaxes and lays out behind the recliner. They can still see each other, but they're not hissing or growling.

I get up to check my mail. Ula ventures to the door again. I notice, too late, that Foot has crouched in preparation for charging. Fully fluffed out, she gives chase. They disappear into the bedroom. I expect the usual hiss growl to start up.

A few seconds later, though, Ula is chasing Foot bakc behind the recliner. Both of them are fluffed to the max. There's maybe one or two hisses, and then they switch again, and back into the bedroom they go, Ula in the lead.

They do this three times with a minimal amount of hissing and no growls (but both looking like multi-colored cotton balls) before they retire to 'their' rooms.

...is this a good thing? It's been peaceful for the rest of the evening so far.

Hey, 'Viv'?

The Feliway seems to be working. At least they can look at each other ATM without automatically getting into a hiss fest (Foot has started hissing and growling too, thanks to Ula's constant hissing and spitting).

Thank you for the reminder about it. :)

Ula is now officially on the lease as well. :)

Also, I found out what the 'second $400' would have been for. A third cat.

...

Nope. Not getting a third. Two is enough, thanks :)

Since she's still camping out on the towels, there aren't many. :)

Anyhow, here she is.

She is currently up on the towel shelves in the bathroom.

But at least she's letting me pet her and even purred a little.

Pictures later when she isn't all freaked out.

Foot is fine and on the windowsill in the bedroom. She ran under the bed for a few minutes when I first bought the carrier in, then came out after Ula got installed in the bathroom and Foot got a few treats. As of now, Foot is acting like there's nothing at all going on.

X-posted.

Last of the Foot spam tonight--I wanted to shpw off her short tail and finally got a few pics that do that well.

Under the cut of course )
