So, originally, I was gonna post a post about how I was bummed over my jade earring after smacking myself in the ear with a box I was unloading and sending the front part flying to parts unknown.

I was also gonna post about how me and one of the engineering guys and the supply clerk from surgery went scouring over the dock looking for said jade earring because, even though it was cheap and the mate to it was at home and the only place I ever really wear it anyway is in the top of my ear on one side, that it was also one of the few jade pieces I'd ever found that had been set in silver, which made it Something To Hold Onto.

My body eats through gold like it's a bag of chips, you see. As in, it turns black and my skin sports green marks from it within a matter of a few days. Yes, even with the much vaunted and very expensive 24k variety (which is going to suck if and when Wedding Ring Day ever comes around for me).

So yeah, after careful searching of hair, clothes, the front pocket of my scrubs (I have an uncanny knack for catching small falling things in that pocket--I have no idea why, It Just Happens), and of course, the floor. After ten minutes, we all determined that, Yes, Jim, the earring is gone and the tricorder and wallet aren't even worth the effort anymore. So my help goes on about their business, and I go on about mine.

For some reason, I got the impulse to look down the front of my shirt a few minutes later.

And there it was, the little bugger, happily and securely nestled in between my breasts. I'm pretty sure that if it had had a face, it would have been smiling smugly and going 'Hi! Did you miss me?'.

So, happy ending and the discovery that large breasts can, indeed, make good catcher's mits. *g*

Most of you have probably already seen this, but going to pass this on anyway after getting the link from Indy's LJ:

LJ is yoinking journals with certain listed interests because of a group using said interests to find and take down journals that 'offend' them. By way of complaining about said journals.

*sigh*

To Whom it May Concern:

You don't know me, and I don't know you.

This is probably why I resent you; although I feel you are free to believe what you want, and yes, even to teach it to your own children, I do not agree that it also gives you the right to censor me in order to do the job you should be doing as a parent and/or concerned adult.

I probably won't get suspended--not unless horror stories and folklore become the next target, but it still bothers me that you feel the need to go looking for certain things and then 'taking down' anyone who expresses an interest in them, no matter their reasons for being interested.

In short, your 'crusade' is no different than the ones in the past--ones, that if you looked into the history of the source of your own convictions, would also prove to have victims of such wide-spread, blind, and hypocritical practices.

If you want your children to be safe, then by all means, protect them. Protect them by making sure they, as the individuals they are, are not exposed to what you find offensive, or if they are, that they understand why such things are offensive. Or dangerous, damaging and even in some cases, deadly. Teach them the difference between reality and fiction, consent and abuse, and good morals and dogma.

But, most importantly (and what will solve the 'problem' a lot more thoroughly than repeated attacks on others), be there for them. With them. Be their voice, mind and conscience. But be there. Right there. Not chasing down people who have already chosen their life path, whether good or bad by your definition. Not on the political platforms far from home, run by people, who quite honestly, don't really give a shit about you and your cause in any terms but how it will prop them up to back it. You children will learn nothing from you that way, except how to be a bully and how to look down on people they've never met.

Be there, where you can hold their hand, see where they walk, and pick them up before they ever even reach whatever traps and harm you see waiting for them. If you're truly doing this for the children, then that's how it's done. Because it's never done right when you leave it to law, government and strangers.

I don't need you to tell me what's right or wrong--I'm grown up and came to terms with all of that ages ago. I don't need you to tell me if my soul is saved or damned--that's between me and my maker, no matter what path you ask. You don't know. You aren't that entity, and it's none of your business anyway. Even the bible says that.

I do my part to warn off the children of the world from things I may say or do, even though it isn't my responsibility to do so. So do yours--do what you are leaving to the responsibility of others and go raise your children instead of this. Guaranteed in the long run...you're more likely to succeed.

Just in case this whole lj thing gets really, really stupid, I'd just like to let you all know that I have a greatest journal as well, under the same name. I may mirror my posts there, at least for a while (or until I get lazy and forget).

Feel free to friend. Derek also has a GJ, so...
