It Iz Le Suck. :(

So I get the ECG valve on my cars emissions system replaced last weekend, and last night/this morning the alternator decides that it's time to breathe its last.

Good thing that:

1) I live only four city blocks away from my job, so I can walk it if I must for a while (although that will be an ugly, looooooong walk in the heat :P).

2) My boss is willing to shuttle me back and forth for a few days anyway while I try and get the dumb thing fixed.

*Sigh*

Ah well--it rains then pours, right?

And on the 'Bweee!' Side...

Someone just asked me what hair color I use because it looks so natural.

I had to point out the grey hairs before they believed me when I told them that was my actual hair color. And then I got a shocked look from them when I told them I was 38 (Because I only have a handful of greys and you have to look for them to see them).

:D

So very, very grateful...

I know some folks only attribute God's existance (or however you want to identify That Which Made Everything) when either something either very very good or very very bad happens, but let me tell this; I find more proof that God/dess/es exist in the little things more than any bog showy flash of stuff.

Likewise for human kindness.

My friends, who had kind words and sympathy when I told them the car was not doing well.

My supervisor, who got up early to make sure I got into work and got home okay, and was ready to do it all over again for as many days as this took to get straightened out.

The engineers at work that gave much needed and valuable advice on how to make sure what was really wrong with the car (and an offer to come help if I couldn't get it fixed any other way).

My apartment managers who went looking for a jumper cable.

The guys at the shop next door, who were willing to check out the problem, call around to find what I needed, and would have even taken me to the store if it hadn't been illegal to leave their shop unmanned.

My supervisor's family, who was willing to ride along in the car while she took me to get what I needed, bring it back, and help to start getting it installed until the shop guys showed up to take over again and install the battery I needed for free.

And of course, the providence that made it just a battery and not an alternator that needed replacing.

I can't think of a better reason to be honestly thankful for all of that. And grateful. And appreciative of the larger forces of the universe.
