Okay, so nuts, or specifically, peanuts, is suggested as a good snacky, high protein thing for diets, right?

'Course, if you look at the labels on a can of peanuts you know that SALT is a big contributer to that whole 'high sodium, not so good for you' thing, and non-salted roasted nuts are a pain to find (and often expensive).

Which...is not such a good thing.

So, then you go for the 'raw' route...which...is kinda okay, but...okay, I'm not a fan of the whole raw thing, at least with peanuts (Walnuts, pecans and pistacios, however...).

So...here I am with raw peanuts I don' wanna touch.

This requires some action, dude.

So I looked up peanut roasting on the interbutt, and found a recipe.

And did what I wanted with it anyway. Because I'm that kind of gal.

Anyhow,

Franken-nuts! Roasted, even!

You need:

Raw peanuts (shelled)
A microwave-safe dish (or oven safe if you want to do it that way)
Collander
Cold water

Black pepper
Chili powder
Seasoned salt (just a little. Certanly not the amounts in a premade can of nuts).
Lemon juice (hey, they're my nuts, I can roast them how I like!)

Or, you know, any spices you might think would be tasty on your own nuts.

Directions!

Put the nuts in the collander and rinse with cold water.

(The next step says add salt, but since I'm trying for relatively salt-less nuts...skipped the salt.)

Spread out an even, single layer of nuts on your plate/dish.

For the microwave: Cook for 2 1/2 minutes, stir, cook another 2 1/2 minutes, stir again. If you want them more roasty, add another cycle of 1 minute each.

For the oven: Cook for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.

Take out, and sprinkle, to taste, the seasonings, then stir one more time to get them well coated. Let sit and cook the rest of the way.

Repeat if you have more than one batch to do.

Eat. (package what you don't eat).

There you go--Franken-nuts.
