Well, okay, it's no so much that as just me replacing something, but still...
When we first met, I was really into anime--enough that I was running a game or two in that style of storytelling right alongside my WoW game and my first online game based on the Pern series.
For a while, she pretended to like it--well, up until we got to the point in the budget where decisions were being made of one thing over another. Anime tended to lose out after a while, and since I liked what she piked anyway, I didn't bother fighting for it, although I missed it a lot.
One series I did manage to beg her into gettung was Fushigi Yuugi (Mysterious Play). Of course, it was still limited to VHS tapes in English dub (no way could we watch the subtitled versions--she couldn't stand it), but at least I got the collection. Which I got shamed into not watching after a while anyway.
When I moved, I didn't take any of my anime with me. It stayed behind. No doubt got sold or trashed with everything else.
Well...my christmas present? The full series. On DVD. For a third of the price (buy one, get two free). Not to mention the following OAV series for 25 each--OAVs that cost $80 or more.
So...I have the full series again. And this time, in the format I wanted...and for far less than for when I had to beg for them the first time.
So there. *g*
