Fuck you. Fuck the spotted pony you rode in on. But really, fuck you. With a running chainsaw up your fucking useless, selfish ass.

So, Foot and I went to the vet.

I think I can say with utter confidence that she doesn't have other humans looking out for her. At least not now.

She's between 6 months and 8 months old--not even a year old yet.

She's also pregnant. Six kittens.

I can't keep/raise/place six kittens, even if the apartment management would allow it.

I chose Foot.

She's getting spayed tonight; there will be no kittens.

But she will have a mom-for-life. Me. My cat now, even if some asshole does show up and try to claim her.

I pick her up three tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you all know whether she still thinks I'm awesome after she gets home.

Oh, poor Foot.

Good on you.

Yeah. This makes it look even more like she got dumped--probably once the owner figured out she'd gotten pregnant.

Grrrrrrr.

This is why so many animal lovers are positively rabid about spaying/nuetering.

I hate having to make that decision about the kittens, but it was that or have to give all of them to a shelter--and they would have probably aborted the kittens anyway, to give Foot a better chance (and to save on expenses on keeping her and the kittens fed and well taken care of until adoption--IF she/they got adopted). So.

Gah. GAH!

aw, man.

I'm sorry.

So, on happier news, is she getting another name or is she permanently The Footmonster?

It's okay. I figure that in the end, it's far kinder than having to give her up because I can't have seven cats in the apartment without risking the lease, and if I gave her up to a shelter, they'd likely abort the kittens anyway so that they could adopt Foot out easier (and didn't have to use as many resources to house her). That is, if there was room for her and the kittens-to-be in the first place.

Here, Foot is definitely wanted and will be cared for for the rest of her life. I just wish it hadn't come at quite so high a price.

Unless someting else comes to mind, she's officially 'Foot'. That's the name on her file at the vets. :) She seems to like it, and can even tell the diff between 'food' and 'Foot' (thank you, Jersey accent). As in, if I call just her name, she'll respond only if she wants to. If I say 'food' or 'food for the Foot', she shows up every single time. :)

Oh, lordy. I think that's very much the right decision, but jeez, I'm sorry you had to make it.

Thank you. I'm okay with it now, although I'll admit I was a big baby a few hours ago and had a cry over it. It's not Foot's fault, and she and the kittens had to pay the price for the stupidity of the last humans who 'took care' of her. :/

Anyhow, she has me now, and she will be a well fed, well protected, well cared for, safe little girl.

That's beyond rough and makes me so sad. :( I'm sorry for you, Foot, and the choice you had to make. (Though you made the right one.)

Thanks, Del.

I'm just concentrating on knowing I'll be able to go get Foot in less than nine hours. I hope she's isn't/wasn't too scared when she isn't knocked up on anesthetic.

Definatly the right decision, hard as hell, but definately the right one. Di and/or I have done it with neighborhood cats before, mostly because we hate seeing the kittens get hit by cars and stuff.

I hated doing it, but, like I've already said, the choice was either make that decision myself (and I wanted her even when I knew she might 'go home' to someone else), or give her away, and the decision still being made anyway. This way, at least, she already has a permanent, loving home and she didn't have to go through the stress of getting used to yet another human(or humans) and new places.

I went and did a little funeral prayer thing for the kittens that night. Seemed right, and at least they got acknowledgment when they got sent back.
