BTW, Dave, where are you? You never got back to me.
I am loving the game. Not enough that I'll stay up 'til 3am and bork my sleep (I won't even do that for ES, and I live and breathe that game sometimes), but definitely enough that I'll push a little past my playtime on it to try and get something.
I really like hunters. I'm probably not playing them correctly--but I am learning to shoot from a distance and then finish whatever comes after me once it catches up with me. It's also obvious that as things get bigger, the toe-to-toe action is likely going to have to quit for the most part. But by then I'll have a pet, and hopefully know how to use it.
And speaking of pets--my solo hunter is halfway through level eight, and she's in an area where you can train for having a pet. I'm tasting the excitment big time. And yes, I'm going to snag her a springpaw lynx. They might not be 'special' enough for most folks, but other than a few 'extras' you can get with specifically named cats later in the game, it looks like all cats are pretty much the same in regards to what they can do and learn. So, my baby might not be the spiffy, jazzy white-whatever-with-fire-breath (at least until later, at any rate), but it'll do. Besides, it'll match my belf's hunter hair. XD.
Seriously, though, I'm looking forward to it, which means I'll probably finish at least getting trained and my first pet caught and tamed when I get home tonight.
I also spent some serious time on my human paladin yesterday (also got her to level eight), because I wanted to see the differences. I have to say it looks like she'll end up becoming a Tankadin unless I get a better handle on the 'how to heal in the middle of battle' thing. I actually spent more time than I'd intended on her, because overall she was pretty fun to play (although I'm a bit annoyed right now--I'm looking for some pig I'm supposed to kill. And although I found the pumpkin patch she supposedly hangs around, it's smack dab in the middle a of theives nest. So, plenty of theives to kill and be killed by, but no Princess (that's the pig). I'd like to find her so I can kill her and move on to the mext quest in the area, but no luck). And watching her try to swing that hammer around is endless amusing (Given choices, I tend to avoid axes, hammers, and other blunt weapons).
I like skinning, BTW. Very satasfying, uses the whole animal (and therefor keeps the screen clear of bodies. :) ), and I've made a pretty decent amount of silver so far on selling hides. Both my solos have the skinning/tanning combo, but I think for Anyada, since she's part of an active guild, I'll stick will collecting hides and plants and pay guild pals for if/when she needs more bags (which, thanks to Tardmuffin, won't be an issue for some time to come).
Once I get Ari (solo hunter) her pet, I'll switch to Anyada and get her up to at least level ten this week, and then start on the other two characters I made for other folks (both Draenei). At some point, I'll drag out Bulani the troll as well and see what I cna do with a straight out fighter. :)
One thing I'm noticing is that my alliances tend to edge to one faction over the other, depending on my server. lol.

Date: 2008-09-16 04:24 am (UTC)And paladins are crazy fun. They're one of my favorite classes right next to druids. And there are three or two pumpkin patches. The one with Princess is way to the east from the one you were in. Just south of the tower place near the road. And hammers are a good choice for Humans. Just for being Humans, they get an increase for using hammers. And it's always fun to hear the "THUD!" every time you hit something.
And skinning and Herbalism/Mining is one of the best money making professions in the game. Cause once you hit medium leather (isn't till about level 20) you start putting that up on the Auction House and you make like 30-40 silver extra per stack, depending on the server. Also, the bags I got you are just about the best you'll have till you hit 70. Only thing better is a really hard to get bag from tailors and a bag that costs 1600 gold. I've also got it set up so that once you hit certain levels I'll be able to just swoop through instances with you and get you sweet quest rewards and gear. :3

Date: 2008-09-16 04:42 am (UTC)I'm having trouble finding the belf hunter quest thing for Ari. :/ (I want my big kitty, darn it!). I was wavering between a bear and boar for her secondary pet. So...might be boar.
Okay. Next time I load Torma up (that's the pally), I'll push further east. Thanks.
*Makes notes for selling* :)
And yes, shiny bags. Heh. I'm still on about that. XD.
Hmn...questing. (now even more eager to get hunter pet set up so I can get Anyada going. XD. Shinies--they make good bribes.)

Date: 2008-09-16 04:23 pm (UTC)And what's frustrating is that there's such a NICE colony of springpaw stalkers in the area, so plenty of chances to get my big red kitty. Only, not. Because I can't find the trainer with the quest. :/

Date: 2008-09-16 05:06 am (UTC)Another fun perk to look forward to with Hunters is their traps. You set up traps that either freeze or slow or hurt enemies when they walk over them. It makes you feel pretty cool when you flawlessly use traps.

Date: 2008-09-16 04:26 pm (UTC)And yeah, I've read a little about traps. I'm hoping I do good with those--it's the one skill I'm not sure I'll be able to eventually master...and it's a vital one for hunters.
