silverthorne: (Arianthe and Elder)
[personal profile] silverthorne
Been reading around and seeing a few things about how people's toons will do things under certain conditions that are preprogrammed.

What I'd like to be able to do is have Arianthe /pet Elder and say something to the affect of 'good boy!' after the finish of a fight, or maybe even a few random endearments.

Can anyone help me with that?

'For the kitty! Horde!' ;)

There is a pet mod out there that I see roleplayers use a lot. I've seen a hunter feed his/her pet and the pet licks his chops, or the pet growls at someone after a certain action, etc etc. I have no idea what it is, though. I'll ask Leon and get back to you.

BTW, I've been on my rogue a lot lately. You may want to toss Grenden on your friends' list if you don't already have him friended.

Will do!

I think it's Anatari on your server. I'll doublecheck when I get home.

Yep, it is.

Btw, I was glad to see that someone answered your question. :)

Yeah, they did. *g* They're typically pretty cool in that group, aside from the occasional 'this is the way ti should be done' kerfluffle.

Unfortunately, the mod I found with that name only seems to let the pet 'say' things as well, such as (for example) 'Elder wants to eat that gnome', which is not what I'm looking for. :/

Do you just want help with how to work macro's? They could be a lot more tedious than the mod that Geekie mentioned and all, but it's workable. If so, I might be able to help, and if not, there's a WoW forum that I can point you towards that's dedicated towards macro's and their workings.

I just think it would be cool to be able to have Ari pet Elder and thank him/tell him he's a good boy/etc after a fight. I mean, heck, I'm saying 'good boy' at the screen anytime he comes back to Ari after a kill...lol. And I think it would be a good identifyer for Ari in how she treats her pet.

Yeah, a macro would be pretty fitting, but you gotta remember, if your in a group with someone, and your killing something every like 10 seconds, that could get annoying.

Anatari says: Charge Elder!
Anatari says: Good boy Elder!
Anatari says: Charge Elder!
Anatari says: Good boy Elder!
Anatari says: Charge Elder!
Anatari says: Good boy Elder!
(random guy your with) says: Ack! Wall of text crits me for 9084098743875 damage!

But if you just would like to do it occasionally or if you happen to RP with someone or something, a macro where you would click it would be pretty good. It wouldn't drive anyone who's not RPing bonkers and you can bring it into play if you are and it wouldn't make it impossible to see what others are typing. But a mod would do it EVERY time you did it.

To do this, just type "/macro" to bring up your macro menu, click on "make new macro," a box will open up on the side and you type in the name of the macro (it's not really important beyond identifying the macro) and then choose an icon for it. Then, in the box below where all your macro's are kept, type "/party (Or '/say' if you want everyone near you to hear it)" and then type in what you want to say whenever you click it. Then you'd just drag the icon in the cache of macro's down to your bar somewhere, so when you click on it, you'll say whatever you typed in.

And a word of warning, cause I know I personally don't like it when people say it to everyone. Just try to be considerate of other people if they're with you or going to be hearing you.

Also, you can connect moves into your macro by typing "/cast" and then the name of the spell/move being used. Also, give each new "/" a new line all to itself.

*dies laughing at wall of text*

Okay. If there's speech, it will be clickable and party only.

Is there a way to just have her /pet him each time, or does that cause the same problem?

You can do /pet. You'd just type "/pet (or maybe /pat) Elder" and it will instantly use it on Elder, even if your not targeting him.

Macro's are fun! :D And no problem, I really enjoy helping people out in WoW. It makes me feel like my mass of stored WoW knowledge isn't useless. :3
