Unfortunately, this was supposedly a 'standard' beef pot pie, complete with carrots, peas, beef broth gravy, etc. The really sweet red pepper mixed in with it was a shock.
Of course, nearly getting food poisoning from it was even more of a shock. Didn't tell you last night because I had already gotten sick and was feeling better...
Our cooks though are getting insane. I think the beef was old. It's the only part other than the peppers that hadn't digested by the time it came back up.
Some of the 'better' ones have gourmet cooks for the staff and visitor cafeteria, but we aren't one of them.
We supposedly share the same menu with the patients that don't have a particular dietary requirement.
Thing is, on the past three weeks or so, everything has had high content of either black pepper, chili, or crushed red pepper. They're putting tabasco sauce in things like split pea soup or New England clam chowder.
And not just enough to give the food a 'kick', but enough that you can't even taste the food.
To put this in perspective? I've been known to eat genuine green mustard by the spoonful, and this food they're serving is hotter than even I can stand...

And they put crushed red pepper in everything.
This is a hospital...^^;
