So I guss I'll call it my 'List of Intentions' rather than my New Year Resolutions.

Oh, and yeah. I love the christmas 'dragon' design. I'd love to see more dragons (*cough*griffons*cough*) of this design...

Adopt one today!

1) Draw one picture a week. Doesn't necessarily have to be completed--just have to draw.

2) Ideally write for one hour a night...although I'll aim for five hours over the course of a week. Again, not necessarily anything 'finished', but as long as something gets written, whether snippets of a story, plot ideas, world building, whatever, it's good.

3) Start walking again. And not let the neighbors 'chase' me out of the pool by sheer numbers once it's warm enough again to swim this year. Even if I end up treading water for an hour, it's better than not going at all.

4) Follow the budget Dad set up for me.

5) Look at the feasibility of setting up a second savings account meant strictly for the cats and their care. If not, then work out two 'baseline' sums for the savings account I do have--one to cover the cats, the other for a financial cushion--that I need to keep in the bank at all times and then build on.

6) Research for the purchase of a new car. It's probably going to be at least a year before my credit and cashflow is steady enough, but the more I know before I have to know, the better.

7) Less time on the internet. I spend as much time mindlessly surfing as I used to when I roleplayed--but at least with the roleplay, I was doing something creative. These days, I just sit and obsessively click...and I could be doing other things instead--such as the above mentioned art and writing.

8) I don't think it's necessary yet, but keep a close eye on my WoW playing. Yes, it's good to get all the play out of my subscription that I can, but I still need to do other things in addition to that. So...keep a watch and keep a balance, before it even becomes a problem.

9) Read a book a month. Considering I used to devour books at a rate of one every three days when I was younger, the mere five or six I read last year is a heck of a contrast. I suspect my own imagination, and therefore creativity, will recover a lot faster if I'm actually 'feeding' my brain with a few good books.

10) I've had my year and some change to recover from living with the ex; this year I hope to work on the negative attitudes and pissy-ass reactions I still get. I've noticed I can get pissy, sometimes unreasonably so, and sometimes when there's no reason to be like that. I may have been like this before my decades-long relationship, but I also suspect that even if I was, it was magnified thanks to the ex. And it needs to stop, if I can manage it.

11) Likewise continue to work on the procrastination thing. I still seem to have this block where I know I have to (or want to) do something, from chores to something I'd enjoy, like playing Final Fantasy, and will spend whole days thinking about it, but not doing it. I did that today, in fact, thinking about either doing a little world building or digging up an older sketch to reference while I redesigned the character on a new page. That was 8 am this morning. And I've yet to do much more than eat, feed the cats, and watch TV. And internet surf. And that? Really does have to stop; sooner rather than later.

ok...I think that's enough to start with. We'll see how far we get. :)

I've figured out why I keep watching The Golden Compass--they did an incredible job on the daemons, and I like watching them move. Also: I have a soft spot for Pan in his mouse and cat forms. :)

A suggestion for number 5? Set up a savings account with ING. I have one that auto-deducts $25 a week from my checking account. If you need to transfer money back, it does take a couple of days but this helps prevent the impulse spending.

*nods* thanks--I'll add it onto the 'look into' list :)

I've heard good things about ING, even though I am not a customer of theirs, but I will heartily second the auto-deduction. If it comes out automatically it's one less thing to worry about, as long as you remember to record it in your check register.

I'm with you on the drawing thing. That's a horse I really need to get back on.
