Happiness is....

Finally getting the box of contact lenses for my right eye that I ordered over a month ago.
See, they were on back order all that time. But my eye doc was cool and would provide me with a sample lense each time, so it worked out all right. Felt sure though that this time I would have to go shell out another 60-100 bucks for a cheaper set of contacts just to be able to see without having to beg for another free sample before the right eye lense quit on me completely.
I had an 'Italian' sub for lunch today. It was pretty good, and the dressing that came with it was spot on, but it also brought back some memories of way back when I lived in NJ.
There was this place called 'Mr. B's.'--An 'authentic' Italian pizzaria and deli. Don't get me wrong, the pizza was thin crusted, overly filled with cheese and spicy sauce, and so greasy that the buttery-yellow sheen of oil was a centimeter thick and you needed napkins just to be able to look at it, never mind pick it up. You could get cholesterol poisoning just from breathing the fumes.
It was no masterpiece, but it was landmark. People swore by that pizza. It was a treat to go, and the 'in' place for all the cool kids to go hang out at.
I wonder sometimes if the pizzaria is still in operation or not. It's been since late 70's, after all.
Funny, actually. I miss New Jersey more than I thought. Not living with Mom, no. Or really, any of the people that didn't end up in Tucson. But the area--that I miss. Just citified enough to have everything you need in reach, just urban enough to have lots of trees and farms and tiny towns that you miss if you blink when you drive down mainstreet.
And only forty minutes away from the shoreline.
Funny what memories a few seconds of stray thinking will bring up. ^^
