Lookit what I got!

She was nice enough to offer to make computer wallpapers for folks, free of charge, of their WoW characters in chosen gear, pose, and zone.

Anyway, take a look, and go backwards to see the other stuff she's done for other folks. YOu might even be able to get her to make you one for your own character. :)

My boss? She rocks.

You see, Dad will be here next month, from the 12th to the 17th, when he heads out for AZ. My normal hours at work would cover the 12th-14th (Wednesday through Friday), and two of those days are typically heavy and ugly days with lots of things to process. So I don't really feel right asking for time off, and leaving my co-workers in a lurch trying to cover MY chaos along with their own.

So my next best bet is to go in and simply move as fast as I can each day to get out as early as I can, which was cool with my boss.

Only...she decided that just wasn't enough.

So, she got together with the one purchasing agent (who was actually my original boss here), and had a talk with her when I wasn't looking.

...So now? I have the 13th off.

My boss? Is cool.

And to think I thought working for her was going to be hell. Boy was I ever wrong.

Heh, also ETA? If you think it's weird that I'd choose work over seeing my dad...well, I got my work ethic from him...and he and I had already talked about the fact that those were bad days to ask off. His attitude is 'It's okay, go to work, we'll still have plenty of time together when you get home'. :)

Man, I hope the people in my new place end up being as cool.

I was a doofus. I left my keys in the ignition when I went to get the mail on the way home from work today.

...and I locked the door when I got out. With the car still running.

See Anne Facepalm. Faceplam, Anne, Facepalm!

Anyhow, so yes, I had to reassure myself that the keyring lock thing still doesn't work when there are keys in the ignition. It's actually a great safty feature...

If you don't lock your keys inside and in the ignition, that is.

Anyway, so managers office was closed, so no calling the cops (my cell phone, of course, was also in the car, in the laptop case, on the passenger side seat. XD.)

Several people in this time period came into the lot, got their mail...and ignored me. I will note, for the people playing race bingo at home, that they were all white.

:/

Anyhow, so I manage to flag down a couple of guys in a pick-up coming home from work themselves. Despite my complete lack of spanish, and their shaky english, we established the problem.

They spent the next half hour trying to get into the car for me (Incidentally, I now know how to use two wedges of wood, a screw driver, and a coat hanger to get into my car. XD ).

What got me was that during this time another white woman pulled up next to us. She didn't talk to us; just went and got her mail, and then proceeded to read all of her mail (and look over at us every five seconds or so with sneaky glances) in her car while we pried our way into my car. She didn't leave until the door was open and she saw me reattach the part of the keychain I had in my hand with the part still in the ignition.

...yeah. Um. Yeah. Thanks, lady. And I hope you didn't call the cops on those guys.

Anyway, the good: I have cool neighbors.
The bad: other neighbors are apparently idiots.

In other news: got my phone, DSL, cable TV set up and the equipment purchased. I'm keeping up with you, Eiko-mun. ^^ All I;ll have to do is toss my stuff in the apartment and hook things up come move in day. Yay!
