silverthorne: (Coffee or Die)

Within half a scroll page, two folks on my flist noted trouble staying asleep last night. And I had the same problem, although I don't feel out of sorts from it. Probably because I managed two nine-hour sleep-ins Saturday and Sunday...which hasn't happened in...god, literally years. Anyhow, point isn't that--it's just noting that folks from several different locales had trouble sleeping. I wonder if it's something 'in the air'? Guess we'll find out.

Updates!

Still Not King:
IE: Still no phone or internet connection, but, hey, we're getting closer--I at least know Grande came out Friday--because now I have nothing but dead air instead of a busy signal. *Frowny face*

All my music and video things are moved in and have shelves of their own now. The pictures already in the house are on the walls where they should be*. That just leaves...more books, my art supplies, and a few knick-knacks to retrieve from the shed (today and tomorrow), and bookshelves to buy for the books. And maybe a drafting table. Because something needs to go into the dining room space since I have no plans for a dining room table (unless my dad gets to it first).

I had a whole week of getting at least seven hours of sleep a night, as opposed to four to five. I think it shows in skin and face. *g*

I've lost another five pounds! Started at 226 when I moved in two weeks ago, and am now down to 208 (although if I twitch on the scale just right, I can get it down to 205 *smirk*). I think it's the lack of stress, starch and wine coolers, and the addition of fresh fruit, veggies, meat and water. Whatever it is, though, it's working. And I haven't even started my evening walks yet!

I'm...sort of liking the new Bon Jovi. Sort of. I think it may have to grow on me. Like moss (although there are a couple of the songs I really like). I do like Homegrown, so there will have to be negotiations for a new copy sent to someone's address. You know who you are.

Dad'll be heading home from Tucson starting Thursday, so there will Be A Dad in the apartment again for a few days next weekend. ^^

All in all, doing good. Now I'm just waiting for the rent and electric to hit and see how much of my immortal soul I owe someone. *g*

*OMG! I had to clean two of the pictures that were already glassed and framed. Used Windex with vinegar and about six paper towels apiece to get the glass alone clean. The damned things kept coming away yellow-brown. This wasn't dust and dirt, folks--this was nicotine from years of being in a smokers house. I wish I had taken a picture of it. If you're a smoker and think you're clean, this would have disavowed you of that notion pretty damned quick. GROSS!

Yea, you don't realize that smoke does that, but over time? Eesh.

And shall I send a shovel to bury the guys from Grande? Or shall I simply wack them with it and we shall leave the various and sundry corpses for the vermin?

Oh, I knew, but still...bleah. We'd dust, but dusting really doesn't do a lot of good when it comes to nicotine smoke. And I used to wash the walls down with soap and water once a month, but when it got to the point that washing just made it where the water had been obvious? Yeah. Too much. And of course, if you live in it, you don't really notice it..,.unless you don't smoke and go someplace where people don't smoke...and then you can smell yourself, even after a shower and clean clothes.

I know it;s an addiction, and it's not my say really what other people do with their lungs and such, but I honestly think if people who smoked really knew what it did to them, their surroundings, and others (and not just the 'supposed helth risks' that a lot of folks blow off anyway), there'd be less people willing to smoke.

Or maybe not.

As for the guys from Grande, just find me a good New York Lawyer, so I can sue the bastards for pain and suffering. *g*

My $0.02 worth: I like the first four tracks best, then "Any Other Day", then "The Last Night", in that order. "Everybody's Broken" sounds like a HAND leftover, not that there's anything wrong with that...and I like it better than either "Bells of Freedom" or "Wildflower" from HAND. "Seat Next To You" is a weak ballad compared to what I know Jon and Richie can come up with. The duet is OK I guess but I'd rather listen to the rest of the CD first, and I don't think LeAnn Rime's voice matches Jon's well...maybe he should have called Sheryl Crow! The live version of "I Love This Town" is better than the studio track. I purely hate "We Got It Going On" and skip it every time I play the disc.

Verdict: JON AND RICHIE, PLEASE drop the whiny strings! HAND was covered up with strings! This CD is covered up with strings! I don't want fiddles and cellos, I want drums and guitars! Can we please get over this adult contemporary phase you both seem to be going through and get back to the rocking? *wanders off to listen to Keep The Faith again*

re: Homegrown, I knew you'd like it! I don't suppose you can make a, er, back-up copy of the DVD?

re: smoking, OMG I know. We bought our house from a smoker. It was sooooo gross to clean! The wash water when we scrubbed the walls was just...nasty looking. Blegh. And the LIGHT BULBS had turned yellow, too!

I still haven't managed to get back for a real good listen because of dealing with the phone, but out of all of them, I think 'Make a Memory' will end up being my favorite off of this one.

Yeah...even without recalling the sing well, I dont think LeAnn would match well at all. Totally wrogn range and singing style.

I dont mind the alternative music phasing, but...eh. It just means I won't pick this one up anywhere near as often as the other CDs, or else will cut it for the few I'm willing to put on a com pile CD and in my MP3 player.

As for Homegrown, I'm willing to buy you a copy and send it/have it sent from the DVD club. I just need an address.

As for the smoker, oh god, yes. I had to soak all of my knickknacks in soap and vinagar water yesterday when I unpacked them--the glass/crystal ones were yellow from the smoke in that place. What's worse though? When I was still in there, I was popping Benedryl and sinus mucus meds like candy? I haven't needed to take either drug since I moved out, and that's with rain, mold, and ragweed running crazy in the air, and I'm really allergic to the second two.
