I have a phone! and Interbutt!

Yep! Go me! :D

It took the Verizon tech all of five minutes, too. All he had to do was figure out what wires went where (gee, they weren't marked on the phone board like they should have been, imagine that...), and then it was all good!

So, HI I'M BACK!!!!!

Score!!!

Yay! I got hold of the tech! I'm to call him when I get off work, and barring him having his hands tied up with another service call, he will meet me there. If he's tied up, then when he's done, he will be on his way after that.

YAY!

(And thanks, guys, for your support and humor through this. It kept me sane. *g*)

I love Verizon. Just so you all know.

When I actually get a phone connection.

Good news, though? Verizon is fed up. Grande told them my phone should be working and it isn't.

So the Verizon tech is going to come out and fix it himself, ownership be damned.

That is, once I get hold of him, since he apparently called right after my cell phone battery died yesterday and his phone mail-box has been full ever since. :(

Anyhow, if anyone knows who the god/dess and/or patron saints of phone connectivity are, please send up a prayer that I get hold of this guy today and he can come fix my phone.

Within half a scroll page, two folks on my flist noted trouble staying asleep last night. And I had the same problem, although I don't feel out of sorts from it. Probably because I managed two nine-hour sleep-ins Saturday and Sunday...which hasn't happened in...god, literally years. Anyhow, point isn't that--it's just noting that folks from several different locales had trouble sleeping. I wonder if it's something 'in the air'? Guess we'll find out.

Updates!

Still Not King:
IE: Still no phone or internet connection, but, hey, we're getting closer--I at least know Grande came out Friday--because now I have nothing but dead air instead of a busy signal. *Frowny face*

All my music and video things are moved in and have shelves of their own now. The pictures already in the house are on the walls where they should be*. That just leaves...more books, my art supplies, and a few knick-knacks to retrieve from the shed (today and tomorrow), and bookshelves to buy for the books. And maybe a drafting table. Because something needs to go into the dining room space since I have no plans for a dining room table (unless my dad gets to it first).

I had a whole week of getting at least seven hours of sleep a night, as opposed to four to five. I think it shows in skin and face. *g*

I've lost another five pounds! Started at 226 when I moved in two weeks ago, and am now down to 208 (although if I twitch on the scale just right, I can get it down to 205 *smirk*). I think it's the lack of stress, starch and wine coolers, and the addition of fresh fruit, veggies, meat and water. Whatever it is, though, it's working. And I haven't even started my evening walks yet!

I'm...sort of liking the new Bon Jovi. Sort of. I think it may have to grow on me. Like moss (although there are a couple of the songs I really like). I do like Homegrown, so there will have to be negotiations for a new copy sent to someone's address. You know who you are.

Dad'll be heading home from Tucson starting Thursday, so there will Be A Dad in the apartment again for a few days next weekend. ^^

All in all, doing good. Now I'm just waiting for the rent and electric to hit and see how much of my immortal soul I owe someone. *g*

*OMG! I had to clean two of the pictures that were already glassed and framed. Used Windex with vinegar and about six paper towels apiece to get the glass alone clean. The damned things kept coming away yellow-brown. This wasn't dust and dirt, folks--this was nicotine from years of being in a smokers house. I wish I had taken a picture of it. If you're a smoker and think you're clean, this would have disavowed you of that notion pretty damned quick. GROSS!

Obviously, these people don't realize they're dealing with a direct decendant of Argyll.

They're going to find out really, really fast why there are so many damned Campbells all over the place.

No. No phone yet. Tech never showed. So I called Grande to find out what the hell happened.

They claim Verizon never faxed them any of the three requests, including the one for yesterday.

I was about as patient as I could be. They have been put on notice that they have until Friday to straighten this shit out. Because next step is the Better Business Bureau and legal proceedings. And yes, I told them this. I then called Verizon (that service ticket has got to be a mile long by now), and told them about Grande 'never getting the requests', and told them likewise that I was giving people until Friday.

Their supervisor will call me as soon as he comes in this morning.

There will be a working phone and DSL by Friday evening, or I'll sell these bastards to England hit them where it really hurts--pocket book and reputation.
silverthorne: (Singing Jon)
"I have no phone
I have no phone!
I've got plenty of gadgets now,
But I have no phone!"

Yes, Grande still hasn't re-attached those (many expletives deleted) wires right.

They better hope I never find their corporate office.

*Suffers interbutt withdrawal because no phone line=no DSL*

PS: Buy the new Bon Jovi album. Yeah, they're calling it 'country'. Buy it anyway. ^^

Er. Hi, folks! Still not officially online. :(
silverthorne: (Liberating Shit)
Still no home phone or DSL connection. It seems that although Verizon is doing its job, another company--the one who apparently made a deal with the apartment complex--isn't.

Basically, this other local company, 'Grande Communications', goes around the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and makes deals with complexes. To wit; 'Let us have control of the wiring in your phone room, and we will offer your tenets a sweet service deal if they chose us as their provider'.

Which is great, I suppose, if as a tenet, you were interested in their offer. Which I wasn't. I like Verizon. They will bend over backwards for you, and in fact tried to Monday when I tried to get the damned phone and why it wasn't working right figured out.

Problem being? Since Grande owns the apartment complex phone box, Verizon can't get in to switch over the two wires to get the old number off and mine functioning completely. My line is activated, you see, but it's not reaching me because of two little wires that Grande hasn't moved and replaced yet.

So I spent a couple of hours getting a clear idea on this and what it takes to get Grande to give me my damned phone line. I got bounced between them, my apartment manager, and Verizon several times. Finally, when Verizon realized that I was getting the run around, they parked me with a tech and started calling themselves and keeping me updated as they talked to Grande.

What it boils down to is 'We (Grande) finally got the service request from Verizon and will switch your wires either Wednesday or Thursday'.

A full week after the phone has been activated.

...Yeah. Can you feel the celtic temper starting to boil? I can.

Anyhow, so Verizon told me to call back if the phone isn't up by the end of today and they'll go smack Grande again for me. Good news is that my phone bill will get a discount this month for all the ass-hattery involved. I love Verizon.

Grande Communications, though? Can suck my non-existant dick. Even if I had been considering them before now as a back up if Verizopn was too expensive, they just lost my business for good, and possibly gained a lot of bad press in the bargain. Way to go.
