Date: 2007-07-19 05:38 pm (UTC)So cooking my own food is a start in the right direction, but making ribs, and mashed potatoes, and pulled pork and brownies... like I said, baby steps, right? (the brownies were really good though! I put almonds on them and... skip it)
heh. I know we will, I think my next step is going to be a ten-speed or something so I can go riding. I'd like a kayak, but I think I'd use the bike more, actually.

Date: 2007-07-19 06:58 pm (UTC)Heee! Yes. American meat-and-potato diet! Hmn...
Damn, now I wish I was twenty again. XD.
Yeah, that is the thing--it's one thing for people to suggest different exercise ideas, but if you personally aren't that attracted to it, it really won't do you all that much good, especially if your 'diet buddies' aren't physically there to push you along, you know?
Like, I could ride, but in all the time I had a bike available to me, I actually wanted to use it all of three times. If I had had the freedom at the time to walk, I'd have been out every evening. NOwadays, at least at this weight, walking doesn't hold quite teh attraction for me anymore (Probably because it's hot down here, and I'm not confident of the neighborhood just yet), but swimming? Hell yeah. And bouncing to music? Since I'm on the first floor, the walls can handle the volumn I put my music at, and I don't have to worry about being censored, you betcha!
Thing is, is that a person's gotta make sure that whatever they're ginna do, they have to be ready to make a lifetime commitment to it (which is why I;m not following an 'actual diet', or spending money on diet pills, a trainer (at least not yet), and various 'diet foods'. What I'm eating now is a permanent part of the diet, more or less. And If I;m gonna do that (if anyone does it), you gotta make sure it's something you;re willing to stick with for the rest of your life.
In a way? It's a lot like kicking an addiction. (Something Dad and I talked about while he was here). You gotta treat it the same way--as in 'never again', or else once you stop doing all the 'right things'? Eventually, you'll most likely end up in the same mess as you were before you started.
Okay, soap box time is over now. *g*
