silverthorne: (Walking in the Rain)
For some reason, I was sure I didn't lose any weight this week (other than the pound on Thursday).

Actually, I'd lost two!

Cool. ^^

I think...I've improved internally since the last time I took this meme.

And it's pretty darned accurate, as far as I can tell.

Look out, world, here I come! *g* (Although the emotional thing...I think mostly applies to romance, to be honest. Gee, I wonder why? :X)

I think it might have been because I'd been walking at a brisk march in the store to get to the BP machine.

Anyhow, when I moved out, one of the bad health things I had was a 138/98 blood pressure and a 98 pulse.

Which, for me, is really bad. Up until the past year, my BP had managed to stay around 120/60-70 and a pulse of 78, even at 200 plus pounds.

Today, I went and used the store PB machine.

...109/93. (pulse of 95, but discounting that because I had just sat down from a brisk walk)

So now I'm low on systolic (active pressure), and high on (?)diaolic (resting pressure)...unless the brisk walk mucked something up (and yes, I took three different readings in a two minute period). I'll have to retry that on a day when I've been in the store for a while and see if that's the case (I was in a rush, so didn't hang around until my body calmed more).

I guess the good news is that it's down. Just...the mix of numbers is weird.

Also, I took resting pulse a few minutes ago, now that I've been calm for a bit. Again, three different times. That stayed consistent.

68 beats a minute. *g* Go, me.

This link was put up on [livejournal.com profile] dark_christian earlier.

Now, I got the whole moral idea behind anti-abortionism. I don't agree with them, but I get where they're coming from, and I'm not exactly a fan of the procedure myself. They're as welcome to their opinion and how it affects their own lives as the next person though.

But get this.

Not one of these people can do anything but parrot the usual 'but it's taking a human life and that's wrong in the eyes of God!' line. They can't even get into the logistics of what it would mean and what would happen to the people involved in the activity if it were made illegal. Including the mother.

They don't seem to get that if this is made law, the women who had the abortions will be subject to said secular law just as much as the doctors and clinics who performed them. And if the law defines abortion as a form of murder...

Well...I'm sure those of you with half a brain cell can figure the rest out for yourself.

This is why just parroting a belief or idea or ideal is a really BAD thing, folks.

Okay, here's the thing.

If someone says Hey, this hurts people and promotes racism, and maybe you ought to rethink it",

Then perhaps it's a clue that maybe you should listen, rather than be a willfully blind jackass about it.

Yes, the word just might mean something else to you and others who share your lack of experience with this word as a weapon. But for something as serious as racism?

Maybe you ought to consider that the people who will suffer from it and have suffered from it just might have a point, okay?

The only way to stop it is to be an active and willing participant of stopping it.

Cluebat over. Think about it, all right?
