Dear Service Desk.

Yes, I know you're overwhelmed a bit with some sort of short in the system.

I realize you're likely short of people.

I honestly have no problem with staying on indefinite hold if I know eventually you will get to me.

But.

When I get kicked out of the system and my privileges revoked because of something wrong in your system and not because I screwed up (I only got one chance when you supposedly get three when trying to sign in, so even if I mis-typed, that should not have happened)?

When, upon getting to the menu, there is no clear option for what I need and no option for just straight-out operator/info desk, so that I get bounced between three departments before being hung up on?

When, upon getting a live person to tranfer me to the right place, the phone rings for three minutes before giving me a busy signal and then hanging up on me?

When, on the third try, your own people can't even get the right department to answer the phone and have to take my number down for a call back which may or may not happen (because apparently someone else in my department got locked out on Friday and hasn't heard back from you either)?

Then there is something seriously fucking wrong.

No love.
Me.

It took me a written complaint to the head of the IT department for them to change my account information so that I could log in to the main campus network and update my contact info. I had done so immediately after leaving Job A for Job B, so that people trying to contact me from Job A could do so, but despite my initial request resulting in a "your information has been updated!" message they FAILED to do so for A YEAR.

A YEAR.

Yeah, I cna see where that would be pissy.

Heard back from them. Apparently I've been kicked off because a security request posted in March finally made its way through the system--one trying to confirm whether or not I really needed access to the program.

From March. And it's one that's already been handled.

And...because it just hit? My company has to put in a new request now to reinstate me.

So, yeah. Not going to get fixed today, that's for sure.

March. Jesus.

Yike!

I do this job too - and that's unreasonably stupid. There should always be a clear person/group to call for things like account lockouts and the like. :/

That didn't even annoy me so much as the not getting through to them once I got redirected. I'm usually pretty patient when it comes to service calls, but the whole bouncing around thing combined with gettign hung up on and 'haha, can't get who you need even when we do it for you' kinda pissed me off. :P

'You'll be on hold until the world ends' I get. The other, not so much.
