Gaming Procrastination...

If you know me, you know I'm good at putting things off until the very last minute and then trying to get it all done in two hours, like whoa. Sometimes I'm successful, sometimes not, but it's an annoying little trait I have that I'm not always successful at overcoming.
Then there's the related trait of 'I can mess around as much as I want, because it's just for fun and maybe I just don't wanna do it'. Which honestly doesn't sound quite so bad as the first, until you realize that the second half of that particulatr thought process is usually followed by 'but you can't do anything else until you finish this one first'.
Which tends to shoot me in the foot, since that means not only do I not finish the first thing, I don't do anything else, either. Which means I and up doing a whole lot of nothing.
Well, I'm at that point with my main on WoW.
She's been at level 50 for a month and half now. I started backtracking to do low level quests just to clear areas and get a little extra rep, and also because most of what's on her 'to do' list is dungeons (one red level, one yellow, a couple of greens and a few greys), and we all know how I feel about PuGs. :P Add to that the part of my brain that says 'no more until you finish these', the fact that I'd like to get her to 60 before I go play with the 'baby' Ari on the other server, and I'm pretty much spending my WoW time wandering around the wilds doing not much of anything ATM, since the wilds I do know about are mostly 'low level' for me now.
I need a kickstart. And possibly an idea of where to go to munch mobs to get all my current dungeons to grey so I can get them off the list...or, something.
What makes it worse is that I have a few other alts I'd like to play as well, but again, the little general in my head goes 'uh uh, finish this one first'. :/
Any suggestions?

Date: 2009-03-18 01:15 pm (UTC)I can't access any WoW sites at work so I can't recommend an area off the top of my head. Where are you questing now?

Date: 2009-03-18 05:16 pm (UTC)I really hate dropping stuff off the quests list, but I might just let them stay there for right now and do my best not to grab every quest in a new area like I usually do until I clear some.

Date: 2009-03-18 02:38 pm (UTC)It's okay to be a completionist, but it will be so much easier to complete everything at max level. Heck, when my priest was holy, I was soloing Stratholme for rep at level 80. You have significantly less aggro issues in dungeons and out in the world when the mob is grey levelled, and the damage reduction vs their attacks is massive.
The Seeker and Loremaster titles are something you should definitely shoot for at 80. You probably are already within striking distance of Ambassador of the Horde.
As for areas to quest in, start out with Un'Goro; some of those quests will be green to you, but they have a neat story. Then, either let those quests lead you to Silithus, or head over to Western Plaguelands at level 52ish and work your way east toward Eastern Plaguelands.
Horde start questing in the Plaguelands at the Bullwark, which is east of Undercity. You can get a quest there to get your Argent Dawn pin and start repping up with them. (Getting Argent Dawn rep leads up to getting the Argent Champion title eventually.) If you'd prefer to stomp some bug people, head to Silithus when quests in Un'goro take you there, and rep up with Cenarian Circle (again, get exalted with them + Cenarian Hold in Outland and you get the Guardian of Cenarius title).
Note that you -will- run into the same issue you're having now no matter where you go. Silithus quests either terminate in raid quests for AQ20 or end in requiring a higher rep before you proceed. Western/Eastern Plaguelands will eventually lead to quests for Scholomance and both sides of Stratholme. If I were you, and you choose the Sil path, I'd hang on to those raid quests until you're 80, and either solo the first boss in AQ20 (we duoed it pretty easily) or look for a PUG wanting to do it for the achivement. It's a pretty easy raid. :)

Date: 2009-03-18 05:24 pm (UTC)I actually have a few yellow and one red Un'Goro quests, and like I said above, I did okay with the one I actually finished, as long as I didn't get too hasty and draw aggro. I also have that one quest journal you can pick up from a kill that I need to find the NPC for. That elite Dino going through the area kinda scares me, though. Espeically since, unlike most elite mobs I've seen up to now, he's 'red' and not 'yellow' when you mouse over him. :/
As far as actual goals I want ATM (Other than, get to level 60), both are mount related. I want the tiger and the ...oh crap, I forgot what they're called--the horse things with the ram horns--so bad, I can taste it. :/

The tiger is going to be a more difficult proposition for you, since you're Horde and most of the saber kitties are night elf racial mounts. However, never fear, one does drop out of an instance - sadly, a raid instance - ZG. But being a level 60 raid, you'll see people run it from time to time either for the mount or for the achievement.

Hehehe. Muhahaha. This is but a preview of what lies ahead. Wait until you find yourself jumping in Hellfire Penninsula every time you hear a metallic whine and the ground shakes...At least you can actually see the level of the T-rexes, unlike the Fel Reaver at level 60...Or the Storm Giant in Howling Fjord at level 70...
...muhahaha. Welcome to living levelling hazards.
