Well, I haven't found the printed word yet, so I'm treating it as a rumor rather than fact, but the radio station I'm listening to says a new rating system in the film industry is being proposed for films that contain people smoking.
As in; it has smoking, it gets an automatic 'R' rating.
...Uh, wow. That's...pretty special. As in, isn't anyone capable of self-teaching themselves or learning basic common sense from their own families anymore?
Just...wow. O.o
(I really dislike smoking, enough to be grateful for things like no-smoking zones, and I still think this is out where the buses don't run, okay?)

When the general populace starts burning you in effigy, then it's a pretty good sign that you really fucked up, whether or not the law and that country's liberal front support you. This is not a minor thing. Learn the culture, dammit.

Apr. 20th, 2007 07:52 amYou know, there are times that I mourn my procrastination and excuses for not packing my bags and heading for Hollywood as a young girl. I had skill, talent, at the time knew who to talk to and where to go.
And then things like this happen, and I'm reminded of why I'm glad I didn't go after all.
Between the actual conversation, and then having it bounced all over the place, that poor kid is going to be scarred for life. Granted, this doesn't just happen in Hollywood (I should know; my own mom was infamous for those kinds of tirades)...but still. The family and people who should know won't be the only ones knowing...
